Jimmy Godrick, hailing from Kollam, Kerala, is a self-made artist who is also known as a DJ in the community. His journey into music began during his school days. With an early interest in piano, he learned to play by himself, slowly building a connection with melodies. In 2013, he discovered DJ Chetas and the world of remixes, which sparked his curiosity about electronic music. At first, he didn’t understand how remix tracks were made but was fascinated by their energy. This curiosity led him to explore EDM, and he soon became a fan of artists like Hardwell and Martin Garrix, which pushed him further into electronic sounds. Starting with Virtual DJ, he thought that was how music was created and began experimenting with looping tracks and crafting his own versions. His journey took a turning point when DJ Ajin, known for his mashups, encouraged him to start making music and introduced him to making music. From there, Jimmy slowly transformed from a mashup artist into a budding music producer.

Jimmy began uploading his works on SoundCloud. His background in piano proved to be a valuable skill, helping him in melody creation and music production. One of his first properly mixed tracks to gain recognition was his remix of Jimikki Kammal with Basstides. Until 2018, he stayed focused on remixes before moving to the UAE, where he temporarily paused his music journey. However, in 2020, driven by passion, he made a strong comeback by joining an advanced music production course at Richard’s Academy, which he considers a major turning point in his life. His debut gig as a dj happened in the UAE at ‘South Nation’ event alongside DJ Jazzy J. Around this time, Jimmy ventured into creating original tracks and released Triology in 2020, marking his official debut as an original music producer. Following that, he released tracks like Faster and Faster, Who We Are, and Can’t Help Myself, rave city and working with label like ‘future house’ setting his mark in the EDM scene.

Balancing a demanding 7-to-7 job while pursuing music wasn’t easy, and in 2022, Jimmy made the bold decision to quit his well-paying job to fully dedicate himself to music. With strong support from his family, he knew music was where he truly belonged. Inspired by Progressive House legends like Martin Garrix and Avicii, Jimmy focused on developing his own melodic signature sound, while still experimenting with genres like Big Room and Future Rave. Tracks like Ilahi hold a special place in his heart, reflecting his love for emotionally rich melodies. He believes in staying open to different styles, blending fusion sounds, and creating music that makes both him and his listeners happy. One of his major milestones includes the release of Chempoove Poove, distributed by Sony Music. He says, Basstides, an edm duo from Kochi, who was there from his starting has a role in his Journey. Today, Jimmy continues making originals and performing at events. Jimmy says that “it was a dream of mine to playing my own songs on stage, now when I do, it gives me goosebumps every time”.
