Sick Society’s story starts not with a spotlight but with a slow-burning connection between musicians who crossed paths at different stages of their lives. It started with Abin Thej, a drummer, with a strong rock background, came on board and with musical roots of his own. He played for the band Thaikkudam Bridge during his school years. Later, he joined the instrumental band Harbingers, where he met and played alongside Hari, guitarist now performing with Shanka Tribe.
Band's next chapter began when Abin stumbled upon Kiran Paul on Instagram. A casual video of Kiran singing caught his attention, he reached out, and their conversations soon turned into collaborations. They worked together and, composed their debut EP, the Band released their first track in 2020, just before the pandemic hit. Despite COVID hitting the brakes on most bands, Sick Society charged ahead — scoring gigs at Rafta Café and Hard Rock Café, building a cult following with their mix of gritty rock and bold melodies. Over the last five years, Sick Society has released two albums and a total of 35 songs, collaborating with musicians like Ashok Nelson, Ruthin Thej, and Ashish Ramesh along the way.Though not always in the spotlight, they were steadily building a sound that was honest and rooted in live energy. Their music reflects their backgrounds — a blend of rock, melodic layering, and tight instrumentation.
Now, Sick Society is preparing to enter a new chapter. The current lineup includes Abin, Kiran, Akshay, and Preeth PS, who is also a guitarist for Masala Coffee. Together, they’re working on their next EP, slated for release in August. What’s striking about Sick Society is how naturally they’ve grown each member brings a distinct background and personality, which has shaped the band’s blend of emotional depth, live energy, and musical versatility. For them, music isn’t just about releases — it’s about connection, process, and steady progress. With years of groundwork behind them and new music on the way, Sick Society is carving out a path that feels authentic to who they are.
