Vishnu Das, aka Daszi, is a name steadily carving a place in the indie music scene in Kerala. Starting off as a keyboardist during his school years, he has grown into a multi-faceted producer, composer, and singer known for his emotional expression and versatility. Beginning with background music for his friends' short films, he gradually stepped into professional spaces. His piano cover of Uyiril Thodum, soon a song from the movie Parava, gained attention when it was reposted by renowned composer Rex Vijayan. After a stint at TCS, Daszi took a leap—quitting his job, investing fully in music, and eventually moving to London to pursue a master’s in music. While there, he worked as a music teacher, expanded his technical knowledge, and created several tracks that laid the foundation for his debut EP.

The beginning of his journey was rooted in childhood, when his father’s casual interest in music introduced him to the piano. By sixth grade, Daszi was hooked and deeply immersed himself in the world of music. His passion led him to compose melodies and eventually experiment with beats. With a strong interest in film music and inspiration from artists like Yanni, his early creations were simple instrumentals. During his higher secondary years, he burned original songs onto CDs and sold them to friends. He scored music for school short films, refining his skills by analyzing movie BGMs and recreating their feel. His passion evolved further in college, where he began exploring different aspects of music. With support from fellow producer Elvin James—who offered guidance, resources, and encouragement—Daszi deepened his understanding of music production. From there, he freelanced for short films, continued making piano covers, and began shaping his personal musical identity.

For Daszi, music is a distraction, an escape, and a mirror of his internal world—it gave him a space to be truly himself. He is now reinventing his artistic expression by exploring and discovering his talent for singing. Back in Kerala, he is fully focused on channeling his thoughts and emotions into his work. His goal is to give back to the very medium that shaped him—by creating honest, independent music and building genuine connections. He remains open to collaborations and sees immense value in friendship and shared passion within the music community. Daszi’s love for music is evident in his words: “Music did something to me. I feel like I have a responsibility to give something back to it.”
